Why do some think the price is high? It's the same as the suggested retail of a 9800XT 256MB. Which is $499. But should presumably offer better performance. Though if it is then the top of the line version could be $100 more.

My guess is that the X800 pro will debut at $499 this week, as neither the 6800 U nor the X800 XT is due until end of May/beginning of June. When the faster cards are released it'll drop to $399.

I also think that people are overestimating these cards. They are fast and all, but hardly CPU bound: even at 1280x1024 with AA/AF gives the 6800 U problems in Farcry.
