0.00% on purchases through October 2002.
No balance transfer fees.
No annual fee.
Everything else is like a typical cc, late fees, over the credit limit fees, 25 days grace period, etc.

Since I was recently approved for a $4k Alaska Airlines cc and CitiBank increased my VISA limit I'm 85% they'll accept me.

Whaddya guys/gals/Ferengi think?

if you dont need it, dont bother, if you have a balance on other cards do a balance transfer and take the 0% till october

If i were you i would stick with the cards i have and try to get the limits up on them.

It's cool as long as you don't over extend yourself with too many cards.

docmanhattan - Yeah the last thing I need is another cc but it would be nice to have another cc, I've heard that Capital One isn't that bad, I want to show more credit activity before buying a new car next year, since I've already incurred 2 credit inquiries recently, I might as well make it 3 then - do nothing for 12 months while these inquiries drop off the radar.

Damn damn damn why didn't I get an Amex Blue a year ago, $#@!

pyonir - You're right, I want don't need.

Ameesh - I hate people like you who are the voice of reason (j/k) ;)

Russ - You're probably right.

RossMAN,

I know I'm right. They gave me one, and I have crappy credit.

They do have amusing commercials though. So if you got that card, you wouldn't have hordes of barbarians chasing you anymore. ;)

I think I'm going to accept it because come April 15th I'm going to need a few thousand $ for Uncle Sam.

As long as paying the IRS is a purchase and not cash advance then I should have until October 2002 to take my sweet time to pay it back without incurring any interest charges.

I'd reccomend trying to charge all your monthly bills on your card every month, and pay them off at the end of the month to increas your activity on your current card, your cc company will see that you are a good customer and extend you more credit., more credit == better credit rating ==> easier to finance on a new car.

RossMAN,

I don't think that is a purchase. I believe that is what they would call a cash advance "equivalent".

That's my wife's favorite with the monkey screaming during the horn intro of the song. :)

IRS is NOT going to be a "purchase". The IRS does not pay any merchant fees and AFAIK, every bank passes that on to you - probably 2%, maybe more.

Ameesh - Good advice, I do that anyways. The only downside is I'm not very good at budgeting so at the end of the month I always have a huge cc bill because I've charged everything to it. But it's so convenient to charge all my bills to it, plus I earn 1% rebate with my CitiBank Dividend Platinum Select VISA, airline miles with my Alaska Air VISA and 0% on this Capital One cc.

Russ & kranky - Damn that sucks, guess I'll be paying Uncle Sam via good 'ole personal check on April 15th at 11:59 PM :(

I just cancelled my Capital One card today. I am through with VISA CC's... I get so many freaking telemarketers trying to sell me crap for my VISA, I had it with them. Same with Discover...gonna cancel it soon as I pay the small balance off. Can't stand all these ridiculous calls and gimmicks I get.

I will have a VISA debit card through my bank and an Amex Blue. Enough for me.
