I searched google for the pictures of the mantis vs hummingbird to show a friend after remembering this thread. I stumbled upon a video of a mantis vs mouse. OMG those things are vicious killers.

what does it do to the mouse?

It attacked the mouse's head and from all the blood probably cracked the skull.

I love mantises. They've never tried to harm me, but they totally own all the other insects that have. This picture makes me happy. Can you get a picture of a mantis owning a spider?

I once put a mantis in a jar with a grasshopper. In about 15 seconds the mantis had bitten the grasshopper's head off and began sucking on the black juices of his insides. It was crazy :Q. But I liked grasshoppers too, so I was sort of sad.

More bee carnage

The Chinese mantis can grow to be 6 inches long!

The Carolina Mantis is the smallest of the three types native to North America. It can grow up to 7.6 cm or about 3 inches in length. In the South it is known as rearhorse or mulekiller.

It is a voracious predator, capturing many insects in the course of its life, and occasionally it will capture and eat an anole (a type of lizard) or even a hummingbird.

Damn I feel gyped. When I was a kid, I used to catch mantises and stick then in a jar and shake it up hoping to get them to fight and they never did.

Maybe it's because you stunned them with all the shaking.

If you'd thrown a couple flies into the mix it appears you would've gotten a lot more entertainment.

It's cool to move your finger around one, and they'll turn their head to watch it with excellent precision.
