pr0n blocking

I want to block pr0n from my home network as much as possible. I know there are parental controls you can pay for and download on your workstations, but I would like to block as much as possible from the network layer if possible.

I have a Linksys WRT54G and the hyperWRT firmware. There are options to block by keyword and URL...but am wondering what the best way to block this kind of traffic. Any suggestions?

Using a proxy server with anti-porn filters. Maybe squid with dansguardian.

Proxy server like n0cmonkey suggested, but it might be a little difficult for you depending on how much you know about Linux.

If this is for the kids, you can configure their computer to only access certain sites in IE or whatever.

I see some stuff on squid on DD-WRT's Wiki, but it scares the hell out of me. I'd probably let the porn through instead 🙂

Dunno why one would do transparent proxy filter rather than use a real proxy. Is the Squid server not able to route traffic, therefore, requiring WRT54G to do the job instead?
