PPTP vs L2TP

Ok, I read 2 sources that say different things about the difference between these protocols.

I'm studying for certifications and these 2 sources different things like I've said.

One source says that L2TP is a TCP/IP only and PPTP supports other protocols while the other sources tells it the other way around.

I've also gotten a couple mixed results from web searches....

I thought I would seek the knowledge of the AT Forums for this one.

PPTP is a Microsoft design that can tunnel multple network protocols, including TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, and NetBEUI.

So, That leaves L2TP to be a NON-TCP/IP tunneling protocol correct?
