I thought it would be a good idea to pool information on what PPD/Watt we are achieving with various configurations and clocks in f@h. Would those of you with kW meters be willing to contribute?

I'll kick things off...all figures taken from the wall at 245V. Monitors not included.
Box 1 has a bit more RAM, hard drives, and fans; also a water pump and a FireWire audio interface, and is a less efficient PSU, so I will deduct 50 W. Do you think that's a reasonable offset?

Box 1 (See sig): 322W - 50W offset = 272W
PH II 940 @ 3.6GHz (1.52vcore): 4 - 7k PPD
GTX 460 768MB @ 840MHz: 10 - 12k PPD
Usual total ~ 15 - 17k
PPD/Watt ~ 55 - 62

Box 2 (See sig): 440W
Q6600 @ 3.7GHz;) (1.424vcore): 4 - 5k PPD
8800GT @ 688MHz: 4 - 6k PPD
8800GT @ 655MHz: 4 - 6k PPD
8800GT @ 698MHz: 4 - 6k PPD

Usual total ~ 19 - 22k PPD
PPD/Watt ~ 43 - 50

Q9400 @ 2.96GHz (I should get a better cooler sometime): 3-4k PPD, ~120W = 31 PPD/Watt
GTX 460 768@750MHz, when added to that: 10k PPD, ~130W (on its own) = 77 PPD/Watt

I just hooked up my quad-GPU rig to a KAW P4460. According to the meter, my rig with four 9600GSOs, and a BE-2300, a 320GB WD SATA HD, DVD burner, is drawing 400W at the wall.

The PSU in that unit is a Xion PowerReal 800W, with four PCI-E plugs. It has the voltage-selector switch, so it doesn't have active PFC, and is likely not 80Plus.

It gets 15-16K PPD. So PPD/Watt is 40 at best.

Edit: Ugh, PF of 0.69-0.70. Crappy non-APFC PSU. I don't get billed for that, right? Only the actual Watts I use? VA is something like 550.

Measured at the wall, 230v ac.

Q6600 @3.25 GHz,(vcore 1.3825 setting, 1.32v loaded),406 MHz FSB - 210w
1x300 GB & 1 1TB HDD, 650w Corsair PSU, Asus P45 chipset mbrd, 4GB 1066 RAM @1082.
Past weeks stats from kakoo shows ~5.74k ppd, Spaceheads stats ~6.37k ppd.
If we take an average of 6k ppd that's 28.6 ppd/w

HD 4830 running F@H added ~47w on total draw for 4.4k ppd (1-2yrs ago), I don't run F@H on it anymore as it's not worth the extra power cost & it slightly reduced CPU output. Not sure if the latter point is still true....
Anyhow atm I'm running Milkway@H on it.

Btw Peter you've said MHz for both your quads ;).

[edit] Actually system draw maybe very slightly less than that now as I think I dropped vcore since taking that reading, will check tomorrow/Monday.

Phenom II X4 955 @ 3.2GHz 1.250V
MSI R5770 Hawk @ 875MHz 1.125V

Not a dedicated folder, just my main system. Running one instance of the classic CPU client and the GPU client at 50% load, the system seems to get roughly 1600PPD. Power consumption is 160W. So looks like about 10PPD/W. ATI kind of sucks for folding, lol. Plus it would probably be more efficient if I were going full tilt on the CPU and GPU, but I like the way I have things set up now, allows me to contribute a bit without the fans ramping up and creating a lot of extra noise, temps getting too high and putting a lot of extra stress on my parts, etc. :)

How about running the SMP client on just 2cores? Possibly a better compromise?

Well, I only have number from a few boxes. All boxes take 500-600 watt from the wall (per kill-a-watt) And my ppd ranges from 37k to 55k ppd, and that averages 74-110 ppd/watt if I calculate correctly

That's a rather general number ;).

My power number earlier was right (near enough), just rechecked & with just F@H SMP running it was drawing ~207w from the wall.
With Spacehead's latest stats showing 5.74k ppd that's 27.7w/ppd. (Inccidently running MW@H GPU that adds about 47w to total draw, the same as F@H GPU used to).

Btw Peter, good o/c on that Q6600! :)

What I mean is that my lowest ppd/watt is 74, and my highest is 110. I think I have 3-4 boxes all tied for 100 ppd/watt.

I don't have a K-a-W, but mine is well over 300 ppd/W. If I ran @ stock would be closer to 500.

Thanks! I just had to knock it down to 3.6GHz though as it wasn't quite stable. That Thermolab Baram is doing its job well!

So an update...

Box 3: Asrock Extreme4, i7 2600k @4.4GHz, OCZ 850 Z-Series (80+ Gold)
Prolimatech Megahalem HSF
Power draw @ 245v: 280W
SMP PPD ~ 33-35k
GTX460 PPD ~ 11k
Total PPD ~ 44-45k
PPD/W: 157-160 :D

Edit: It's now fixed at 4.5GHz as I disabled C states. Total PPD (GPU & SMP) now 47-51k
Drawing 245W
~200 PPD/W

Haha yeah it's sweet! :cool: I might swap it into my main case, both folding machines are currently on plexiglass shelves for better access.

I'm actually getting 4.1 - 4.5GHz on the 2600k when it's folding (it keeps downclocking under load). I'm not sure if there's something I have to disable to get it fixed (I disabled C1E and autotune already). :\

Edit: I hadn't disabled the C3 and C6 states, mainly because I didn't know what they were, but disabling these fixes the CPU @ 4.5GHz.
Edit: It just stopped working after 10 minutes crunching, GPU-Z now says my core is throttling back and forth between 3.9 and 4.5GHz!
Temp is 66-70C on the highest core, think it could be thermal throttling?
Edit: Fixed. I'm not sure how, it just stopped changing. Probably heat. I decided to upgrade the fans on my Megahalem in any case.

I might have to give the SMP client a try. I thought I had tried running it once with all four cores, though, and it seemed like the WUs were taking a long time and the deadlines seemed pretty short. I was worried about maybe not getting them done in time. But I might experiment some more with it sometime.

Would you mind posting the figure for your 2600k? Which GPU did you put in it?
Seems a single GTX560 might be a killer match for efficiency!
