Ppd Cell Phone Plan $80/yr - 2x Min for 1st 3 Months

About 1 yr ago I got in on AT&T's FreeToGo prepaid cellular plan. I learned about it here at Hot Deals and purchased a Nokia 5165 phone from Amazon. I was content with paying AT&T $25/3months ($100/yr) and I never used up all the minutes anyway. Now that their prepaid plans last only 1.5 months ($200/yr) it was becoming too expensive. AT&T does now offer a plan for $10/45days but it is too much of a hassle signing up so often. This brings me to ecallplus.com They still use AT&T system and only charge $20/3months. This means you can still use your AT&T phone.
There are 2 parts to this deal.
1. Switch to ecallplus system for an $80/year phone at $0.40/min anywhere in USA
2. When you sign up mention their initial promotion of double minutes and you will double the minutes you purchase in your first 3 months.

To switch over from FreeToGo, do not purchase ecallplus' starter pack. You do not need it. Just phone AT&T mobile and tell them to release your ESN. Then phone ecallplus and tell them you want to sign up.

I have only been on for 24 hours, but no problems so far.

My first Hot Deal!

Thanks! This looks like a great gift for my mom who would rarely use her minutes. We have an unused AT&T Nokia phone laying around also. Good find.

Excellant,
Now I have a place to go after my cards run out.
Anyone have any luck getting 90 days out of our amazon cards?
Please respond on how you did it!
I am going thru the process right now
and I want to see what my chances are.

Where can I find more details on what phones are compatible? I'd like to set my parents up with one of these but I don't have a cell phone and don't know much about them. Would it be a good idea to buy a used one? That's what I'm aiming to do but suggestions are welcome!

Yes, there was the $40 phone with $50 mail in rebate from phoneshark.com, I ordered that one. Heck even if rebate doesn't come thru, $40 is pretty good for a nokia phone. I dunno if its still going, but you can check it out.

where can you get (did you see) $10 wireless minutes packs?

it's been 7 weeks, and my rebate still isnt in the system at nokiarebates.com nor any sign of my free $25 phone card 🙁 anybody have status on their rebate/free card?

oh, ecallplus also has thse cards:
100 min card for $35 ($0.35/min).
166min for $50 (.30/min)
400 min for $100 (.25/min)

the $100 card isnt worth it here since at&t has $75 and $100 plans at .15/min and .12/min, respectively.

hm..seems best bang for the buck is the $20 for 50 min (.40/min) if u get double the min for the 1st 2 cards. (since it's double the min 1st 90 days, i'm assuming u get double on the 1st card u activate, then at 89th day, activate the 2nd card.)

I am not sure if AT&T offer $10 plan or not but they have started offering $10 card for Pre Paid phone as a minimum card value compared to $25 being min card value. Hope this clarifies the matter. Also I called ecallplus.com at 1-877-205-8600 to check on promotion. CSR told be that for $20 and $35, they would double the air time meaning for $35 you get 200 min (~17 cents a min) of long distance. Only drawback is if you use it for a local call, you burn up your minutes.

Hey Yug ! Is this minimum $10 card available on some particular stores / websites ? I went to AT&T's wireless site, but they showed only $25 as the minimum for 45 days...

Please let me know from where can I find the AT&T $10 cards ?

Additionally, Cingular has prepaid at $20/3mos. =$80/year. They do not have roaming, however, so had this been sooner, we would have kept our AT&T via ESN.

I called nokia at the number given on the last screen after no rebate info was found on the site. The CSR said my rebate form had been received about 5 days after I sent it. She said to wait another 4 to 6 weeks for the rebate to show up.

K000: When I trieds to release my ESN, AT&T CSR asked me the reason. At that time she pointed me out that they have a $10 card also. So, my suggestion to you in case you don't see $10 card on their web site, call the number to charge your card (or 611) and they will charge your phone for $10.

I called Cingular, and they might be a better deal than ecallplus for people who don't need roaming. On Cingular's nights&weekends plan, it's 10 cents/minute 9p-7a and on weekends, and 35 cents/minute other times. So, you can spend $80/year with Cingular and get up to 800 minutes or $80/year with ecallplus and get 200 minutes.

I'm planning to stick with the AtoZed's ecallplus idea, though. The free inbound and outbound text messaging is really cool. Here are some commands you can send from your phone. For example, you could remind yourself to renew airtime by sending an email to hz@hz.com with a subject line of
PAGEME +89day "renew airtime"

BUT, what would be REALLY cool would be if someone can figure out how to hook the phone up to a Palm or Pocket PC and use the unlimited free SMS/email to do web browsing!

Thanks OptiMiser. With FreeToGo I could receive emails but I don't think I could send them. I have now tried sending a few emails and it works like a charm. And best of all, no minutes are charged! For those who want to try using Nokia 5165, to send email it is Menu 214.

link to xingular deal? also, i thought ecallplus doesnt have free roaming. i thought it had the same $0.85/min surcharge for roaming???

link to xingular deal?

Go to www.cingular.com, enter your zip code, select "Prepaid" from the Rate Plans dropdown menu, and click "Go". The info for my zip code, 20904, matches what have been stated in this thread. I just can't decide whether to go with Ecallplus or Cingular, as I have both an [unused] AT&T and a [monthly-plan] Cingular phone 🙁.

I looked into the cigular deal - in your 'home area' things looked pretty good (.35 prime time .10 offpeak per minute) but if you receive a call from out of area/nationwide it is $1.95 a minute! I still may consider it. I am in northern virginia
thanx!

When you switch to Ecallplus, do you lose any accumulated minutes on AT&T Prepaid?
I've accumulated over 180-minutes after they changed to the 45-day plan (that's how infrequently I use my phone).
The unlimited 2-way text messaging is pretty cool. AT&T charges 10-cents/each to send text messages on Prepaid.

I ebay'd a use nokia 6160 and signed up with eCallPlus yesterday.

I ordered the starter kit, and they sent me instructions within 2 hours,
and I had my phone going. No problems so far.

Some more info:
- Minutes expire in 90 days
- If you add more minutes before your previous minutes expire, they roll-over
- Unlimited text messaging
- If you're "roaming" out of AT&T's tower, then you have to dial 111, 1, your phone number, pin, number to call
(is a bit annoying, but I programmed my phone to dial the first part, then I enter the phone number).

They're web site looks a bit cheap, so I was a bit skeptical, but it's working great for me. I'm
getting more reception bars than my roommates who use cingular.

if u RECEIVE a call from outside your calling area, u get charged 1.95/min?! dont u mean if u make calls while outside of your calling area?

actually i have a pretty good deal with Alltel 60 min for 20 dollars. but the nice part is as long as I just make 1 call a month I can stretch the 60 min out for as long as I like or am able. Which is great for that occasional need for directions or whatever
