powersupply question

I have a 305W PSU at the moment. My radeon 9800 pro is damaged so I want to buy a 6600GT as a sort of replacement for it (since I don't have huge amounts of money to play with). The 6600GT requires a 350W PSU but since I have a 305W PSU can I run it?

I'm not quite sure, it came with my dell 8300. I should really check.

Edit: I know, dell... But I did upgrade the RAM, hardrive and graphics card.

I had a 6600GT and the fact that it requires it's own molex suggests to me that you should upgrade to AT LEAST a 350W nice brand PSU. I had the Antec 430W TruePower PSU and it ran flawlessly until I sold it (the Vid card) due to lack of use.

Could I run the 6600GT without any problems though with a 305W PSU?

Edit: I was searching for someone with a similar question and I found this on the dell (sigh...) forums. here

Basiclly some guys who replied are claiming that they can run 6800's with 250W PSU's. I suppose I may be able to run the 6600GT with a 305W one.

I've also being hearing that 305 is the "mean average", and apparently it can go about 90watts higher, could there be any truth to this?

They can also run x850xt pe's with the 250 watt, so you'll be fine.
