Powershot S200 - $199

You need to find an Officemax that is out of the A40 that is on sale for $199. The S200 is listed as a substitute. I got the camera for $199 + tax = $212.93 . This seems to be a pretty good deal as I haven't found in around the net for less than $247.

alot of online vendors have the s200 for less than 250
so its not that hot...

Well, $247 - $212 = $35 savings. More if the online retailer charges shipping. At around a 15% discount, I count that as pretty hot in my book. Plus, don't discount the "instant gratification factor" of buying B&M.

Yup pretty hot. Scored two and used two 30off 150 coupons. Most OM will take their own online coupons.

Hey did u guys have to speficially ask for the s200 in lieu of an a40 that's sold out? I tried to pick up the a40 at two different OM's and neither one of them mentioned the s200...

Just tell them straight out that you have an OM online coupon. They always let me use it.

The only advantage to this model over the A40 is the size, no? From what I hear, the A40 is superior in color and image quality. Doesn't the s200 it have worse zoom capability also... Anyone have experience with both of them?

Yep, size is the benefit. And size is why it has a MSRP of $50 more than the A40.

The A40 has 3x Optical zoom while the S200 has 2x. The S200 looks 100000x better than the A40.

Anyone know when Canon is killing the S200? Why OM is giving it as a replacement?

I have the s200 also, but the only thing I dont like about it is that it does not take black and white pictures like my old s100 did.

hey guys,

i just called my local OM and the guy said that they were out of A40s, it was a "clearance item", and there is nothing on the substitution list. any suggestions? should i go down there any try some social engineering? does anyone have evidence i can present that it's on the substitution list?

OK, I managed to get this deal. basically the OM guy on the phone was being a d*ck and when i went into the store, they gave me the S200 as a replacement. The problem is, they wouldn't take the coupon since it's an already discounted item.

I got an s200 too! I had to argue with the manager a bit as he *tried* lying to me - telling me that theres no replacement and then telling me that i could only get the panasonic replacement and not the s200 but after holding my ground, I finally got it. I could've lowered the price more with a coupon (they would've taken it) but theres no Staples in the area, so they wouldn't take it. I'll be lurking around the forums for CF memory, a reader, and a carrying case now
