Question powershell confusion

Looks like it's a feature enhanced version of powershell, and operates independently of the shipped version of windows powershell. It appears to have some ms devs working on it, but it's not an official ms product.

That's my interpretation of the github page.

I had to install PowerShell 7 to automate some of the stuff a client wanted to be able to do, but aside from that I gave up a while ago assuming that Microsoft does things with a consistent chain of logic in mind.

Powershell was opensourced ~10 years ago. The github page is the official powershell repository. It is owned by MS still.

Just want to say if anyone is disregarding powershell due to MS involvement I would strongly suggest you give it a try. It is pretty awesome. (same with VS.code)
