Powerpoint to Movie

How do you convert a powerpoint presentation with audio and timing to a movie that you could put into iMovie or Windows Movie Maker?

I just hook up a VCR to my TVout and use a converter cable to turn my speaker cable on my sound card into RCA cables and hook them into the VCR as well, record while running the powerpoint.

That's the quickest way, IMO. Last time I tried to do this I found a freeware program that would do it on the fly, but it was sloooooow.

maybe making images out of your slides (.jpg, .bmp) and use video editing software to make a movie with those images...

But the transitions wouldn't show.

No idea if you have a Mac on hand, but Apple's Keynote has built in export to Quicktime Movie functionality, maybe you know someone with Keynote that could open up your PPT and export it?
