PowerPoint. Need Help!!

Recently upgraded from NT to XP with office 2000. When i open older powerpoint files i cant access the embedded excel charts and organazational charts. I have sr-1a installed and i've deleted a large number of my fonts (those were the only microsoft suggestions). These files are critical. Does anyone have any ideas about what i might do to get around this? Thanks in advance for your help.
 
See this link for more information - it has to do either with the organization chart, or Norton Antivirus mucking things up....
