A North Texas businessman has been jailed after co-workers reported an image of child pornography showed up on a screen as he gave a computer slide presentation recently.

Smith had just completed a PowerPoint presentation on Sept. 4 when he tried to open another document on his laptop computer. The co-workers said a photograph of a nude young boy appeared on the screen.
:Q

Smith told Exel officials that a computer virus had caused the image to appear

Police seized the computer, as well as disks containing child pornography and a folder with 65 pages of printed pictures of child pornography that Exel officials had found in Smith's desk

It's the same kind of virus that will put that stuff in your home PC also. It has also been known to put those kinds of videos in your collection. Once, I heard it infected a guys uncles ex wife.

well if viruses can make your cd rom drives open, then surely they can make 65 pages of child pr0n materialize on the desk

Another story: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,71228,00.html

the company also turned over 65 pages of printed child pornography allegedly found in Smith's desk.

No computer virus prints child porn and puts it in your desk.

Broon, you're stoopid. There's no such thing as a computer virus that can infect a guy's uncle's wife.

it's not as clear cut as you might think.... could be a disgruntled coworker/enemy planted them there... not defending the guy, but i wouldn't lynch him yet.

Are you sure? Cause I read it in a newspaper at the grocery store check out so it must be true.

Man, that would be a cold, hardcore enemy to have at work.

Smith was fired from Exel, a Fort Worth-based computer logistics company. He also resigned Wednesday as pastor of Landmark Baptist Church, where he had served for 3 years.

ahh how nice, a baptist minister.....

It's a scam. Prolly someone put the folder there and also a virus. Also they put the 65 pages before he went to the meeting.

Very plausible...I must say that I'm pretty skeptical too. I mean, who the hell would keep pr0n on their office computer, let alone IN THEIR DESK DRAWER??? And why the hell would they put a pr0n pic in a PowerPoint that they'd be presenting on the screen...or in a separate file that could be seen??

IGGA, not everyone is as smart as you.

Mom's a teacher at the local high school. You oughta hear some of her stories about some of the (now ex-) teachers. Porn on the projector screen!

Exactly. People shouldn't jump to conclusions. Unless you have a mat.

If it weren't for the fact that children were hurt in making this story, I would find it incredibly funny. I bet the bastard crapped his pants when he realized the wrong picture popped up. I hope they have a bed reserved in "bubbas bad ass child molester hating, in for life, take no crap from other prisoners" cell.

EDIT: since everyone is arguing that it may be a setup

Smith had just completed a PowerPoint presentation on Sept. 4 when he tried to open another document on his laptop computer. The co-workers said a photograph of a nude young boy appeared on the screen.

It did not say the image popped up in his powerpoint presentation, but while trying to open a presentation. If I click on a jpeg it opens up in paint shop pro. He double clicked the wrong file and got busted.

You'd think that the ability to use longer file names within Windows would allow an individual to name a document more descriptively.

Kind of a funny work story (not invoving child pr0n, though) happened a few years back on the team that I worked on. We had a guy put together some documention for the application that was being built. Needless to say, the document required a few screen shots to be inserted into the documentation. On the bottom task bar of all the screen shots was the Web site "Jennie Cam" which was minimized to his task bar. He sent out this document which was the basis for a more than a few presentations to several individuals. I guess I was the only one to get a laugh out of this situation as nobody else noticed what I had. :D
