Wasn't sure where to post this among the forum listing, but anyhow here it goes..
Apple recently released Dual 2.5G prog PowerMac G5, I'd like to know if there are any benches done on the web? Something like..
PowerMac G5 Dual 2.5 GHz vs Pentium 4 EE 3.4 GHz
PowerMac G5 Dual 2.5 GHz vs Athlon FX-53
PowerMac G5 Dual 2.5 GHz vs Intel/AMD's top-of-the line Dual Progs Chipset
I'm not trying to beat a dead horse - in other words, I know they are different architectures, apps using different optimization path, etc... But still, there must be some "common" and "widely used" apps that are suited for benchmarking. Many of Adobe/Macromedia products, or internet browsers (Netscape/Mozilla), or even some popular games that support both platforms. (For instance, WarCraft 3 even utilizes a hybrid CD - no separate Mac version CD)
My previous understanding was, those IBM chips are more effecient in clock per clock comparison but still Intel chips runs way faster to compensate for the inferior chip design. Now that the PowePC's clock speed is almost up there with Intel/AMD chips (2.5 Ghz) I'd like to know how they compare each other. Again, I'd like some practical information - not a theoretical one. I'm sure there are ways to compare those chips using real-world applications. That's what actually Apple does on their front page anyway. (Using some photoshop filters)
Any input, or a link to informative pages would be greatly appreciated.
