So, I have internet in my basement that I get from a powerline. I have the XE102US. It came out in 2007 according to Amazon, yet my account says I purchased it in 2006, haha so it's at LEAST 7 years old(maybe 10 years old according to CNET review dates. I'm sure a lot has changed in this time period and it's hard to find current information/reviews that are truly decent reviews based on data and not user experience.

What I need to know is:
Is this acceptable for gaming?
Will I get crazy packetloss, spikes, etc. I want this to be SMOOTH gaming.
What brand/model is the best?

I was currently looking at ZyXel PLA4205 as per this CNET article:
http://reviews.cnet.com/2733-3243_7-568-8.html

However, from my reading online I should be concerned about UDP packetloss (what is this used for?) and that I should be concerned about different outlets. As per this review though:
http://samkear.com/hardware/zyxel-pla4201-hd-powerline-adapter-performance-test-review
It seems things are otherwise and that these problems are mostly fixed in 2013.
Thanks for the time guys! I really appreciate it.

PLN is hit or miss, kinda like wifi. Go with a well rated brand, make sure both units are on the same circuit and hope for the best.
