Actually, the National Anthem usually does it for me as well.

Adagio for Strings

That one makes me tear up :(

That was first piece that came to mind for me...I have a great recording of the choral arrangement sung by the Cambridge Trinity College Choir...the execution of the score is perfect in every respect.

Purcell's 'let my prayer arise' also does it for me.

As far as modern music goes... 'dido -- Here With Me' comes to mind.

My HS mascot is Tartans and we rolled up five pipers for all football games and all home basketball games...I love the pipes.

Anything on the pipes played well live gives me chills...oddly enough I find myself at Carnegie-Mellon Univ. for my graduate work so I get to here pipes live again.

Speaking of Explosions in the Sky, Six Days at the Bottom of the Ocean is a pretty kick ass one by them. I think they used it in Friday Night Lights if I'm not mistaken.

Agreed. At funerals that just kills my composure right there and I never cry otherwise.

That was my great grandmother's favorite song. I don't really remember much about her but I do remember them playing that at her funeral. :(

Surprisingly, no. I hardly ever get the urge to buy music online, so I never made an account.

Gripping probably wasn't the best word, but they are pretty deep.

I mean the Nickelback video is kind of ironic and turns out sad, and the 3 Doors Down shows all the clips of families splitting up because a few of them are going to war. Not really sad or anything, but touching nonetheless.
