PowerColor Radeon 9800Pro won't load games past 8x6 resolution.

Whenever I load a game it defaults automatically to 800x600, but my monitor is set to 1280x1024. My older 4200ti didn't have this problem so I'm assuming it has something to do with the new video card or it's software.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest drivers and also reinstalling DirectX every time I did so and it didn't seem to help.

Any suggestions?

When you're in any particular game, can you change the resolution to something higher? Games often default to 800 by 600 when you install them. Try that, it should work no prob.

Yes, I've tried that in all the games I have.

That's weird...I upgraded from a Ti4200 to an Radeon 9800Pro, but didn't have any problems like this...hang on...did you install the latest version of your motherboard drivers as well? Since you didn't say which chipset you have, you either have to go to Via's site to get the latest 4in1 drivers, Intel or Nvidia...also, your motherboard bios should be the latest version...

I have an nForce board and updated it like you suggested and that didn't seem to help. I'm at a loss at what's going on and I'm considering sending the thing back to Newegg and sticking with Nvidia.

Edit: D'oh.. I just re-read your post and I haven't tried updating the BIOS yet. I'll give that a go tonight. I also have another PC and will use the new card in that to see if the same thing happens.
