PowerColor 4830 512MB - $64.99 AR FS

a whole $10 cheaper than my sapphire 4830, hot damn! oh well, at least I already have mine here with me 🙁
how are powercolor rebates? To my best knowledge, they are a bit on the unreliable side. I could be wrong though.
 
when these were first released in Europe several reviewers said that 2 of these in SLI were faster than a 4870.
Funny I can't find any of those reviews now....????
 
Grrrr, I just ordered one of these yesterday and my card already shipped.

Time to e-mail Newegg support and see if they will credit my order the $10.

Just gotta love how things work out sometimes. I spent a week looking at video cards before I decided to finally order one yesterday, then today a -$10 promo pops up.

They should give it to you. If anything call. Ive gotten at least 3 things price matched from them via phone.

Probably, but that unit only has 27A on the +12V rails.

Only has 27a? That's a lot for a 12v rail. That equates to 324 usable watts. A pci-e with one 6-pin power is speced out to 12.5a. (75w+75w @ 12v) *

This card draws about 6.66a (80w) under load, so you could run these in crossfire on that PSU with a very power hungry CPU to boot. For that matter you could run these in Tri-cross.

Edit: had the wattage wrong for the pci-e slot.

I still can't find the main reviews on this used in sli.
I thought it was hardware canucks but can't find it their either.
The review not only had all the test on 4830 sli but even did some weird stuff like sli it with a 4850 and a 4870 in their testing.

nice... i just purchased one... it's going in my HTPC wannabe... and i'll connect up to the 37" westy with hdmi ... i'm set... this will definately wow the gf 😀

I think you're only the second person here who's recognized the Halo reference 😀.

The full story is that my first choice for a handle was "Foehammer" (the callsign used by the gal that piloted the Pelican in Halo 1). It was already taken though...
