Powerbook RAM compatibility question

I have a Powerbook G4 (Aluminum, FW-800 series, running 10.4) that I am attempting to upgrade to 2 gigs of RAM. I have installed RAM in this computer before with no problems, so I know what I'm doing in terms of the installation process. Anyway, I purchased two 1GB SO-DIMMS, PC 2700, CAS 2.5, Gigaram model GR1DS8B-1GB/333 to use in my Powerbook, which meets the specifications Apple lists in its documentation for this computer. Both sticks are from the same batch, the serial #s are sequential. The modules came from New Egg, so I have no reason to believe that the seller ripped me off in any way.

When I put in either stick of RAM and try to boot OS X loads to the GUI and then locks up; the same happens if I mix it with RAM that I know is good. If I use both sticks, the system never boots, it just powers up and sits there. I'm guessing that these are both bad modules from a bad batch, but just in case, does anyone know of any reason that these modules would fail to work in my Powerbook?

No reply needed, I checked with Gigaram who said that this RAM just isn't compatible with Apple hardware.

If a company is going to sell funky chips that don't actually live up to specifications, they should at least label them as "not-for-people-with-picky-machines"
