I'd start with this:

or maybe this:

I could probably get away with building all of the workshops I need for $150M with say another $5M to stock them. Add in a house, a car, and some investments - I think $750M would be about right.
That first one is a bullshit ad.

The Bar W Ranch is a well-established working ranch located 10 south of Pinon, NM. This is a highly productive ranch consisting of 23,894 acres (37.3 sections), being 1,618 deeded, 2,390 State and 19,886 BLM.

They shouldn’t be able to claim the state or BLM land.

The second one is a little too deep in Mormon country for my liking. In the early 80s, we lived in Layton, UT and I worked for a guy who lived in Mountain Green. His family “ ran” the local water district…and they were always getting busted for shitty water (e-coli).

Hah, good catch. I'm sure there's some company out there that specializes in finding empty land for rich folks. Zillow is a mess.

If it makes you feel any better it'll probably break up the winner's marriage, one of the kids will die of an overdose, really nasty shit like that. I don't think anyone is prepared to have that kind of money and it often ruins people. Think I'd rather win $100,000 than $2 billion to be completely honest.
not sure what the rules are for lottery pools, but I'd likely take the annuity. Although I wouldn't be able to "maximize investment returns," I'd safeguard against Sebastian Telfair level of money mismanagement.

They can claim the BLM lease though. BLM grazing leases go with the base property so the current grazing lessee gets a windfall at public expense when they sell the base property. Federal grazing leases are the ultimate in corruption and completely un-American.

Heard it said and it's an interesting observation: "Nobody needs a billion dollars."

I give almost zero fucks about money. If I won billions, I'd probably pay someone to help me give most of it away. If you gave me $2B today, my 2026 wouldn't look substantially different than 2025.
That's the thing. If you suddenly get a boatload of money, best to not go crazy. Just keep living your life for a while being who you are. Yeah, live a good year without spending any of the windfall. It would give you a better chance of it not fucking you up.

I had this book, "The Velvet Monkey Wrench," it was a pallet pickup from a bookseller I had a temp job for. The one thing I remember is admonition that with money comes the responsibility to spend it responsibly/wisely. That would mean you don't lose self-awareness.
