POWER

I'm running a 1.2 TB, dvd, cdrw, gf2 pro and all the usual stuff on a 250W psu. Everything seems to be fine, but I gather AMD only recommend 300W psu's and above.
So, my question is this: what happens if the power supply is not great enough? Will the system just crash, or can permanent damage be done?
Thanks,
Pete

I use a 300w. Ive noticed sometimes when you have too many devices installed the demand on your PS can be overwhelming. Some damage might be possible under extreme circumstances.

There's recommended 250W. I've built systems with them, Touch cases with whater the default 250W PS is. A good 250W will do as well as a cheaper 350W, it's quality of power that counts. These systems were both classic Athlons, a 800 and gig system. One is standard fro a home computer, one has a CDRW, spare soundcard, and Geforce in it.

Don't put too much in there though, no matter what kind of chip you use, if you want to add a few HD's, zip drive, and tons of bus powered USB crap then get a 300W-350W.

well, if you overclock that 1.2tb, you might consider at least a 300w. but if everything is working fine, then you're ok.
