Power?

hey i got some questions for anyone who can answer





i have a 230 volt power supply and im guessing thats either 300 watts or 350 watts anyone know?

i have a AMD Athlon XP 2400+, 768 DDR 333 ram, Power Color radeon 9800 Pro(will be retial ATI version soon), 4 (soon to be six) case fans with leds on them i dont know there speeds, samsung 120 gb ATA hd, Creative labs soundblaster audigy gamer, 52x32x52 Liteon CDRW, 2 Sound Reactive Cathodes and was wondering what would be required to safely power all of that with out issues.



the reason i ask is i have had 2 Power Color radeon 9800 Pro's fans die on me and im wondering if i had bad luck or if its a problem with the power output its not bad cooling if it was i would have had other problems and the cards fan wouldint wait as much as a month in the first case and a week and a half in the second before dying, (both of which died in very different manors)

there is nothing even close to the video card that could get stuck in the fan either.

PS. im not asking how good my hardware is but feel free to comment on that just know i made this comp making only $500 cdn every 2 weeks so nothing is really that huge and know that im getting a retail card by ATI no more third party cards.

Look on the power supply, the label should say the wattage. A quality 350W should be fine.

well i just thought some one might be able to tell me based on volts>watts guess not i could check the wattage right on it yes but thats about 15 screws i gotta take off just to look and then i gotta put it all back just to do it again in a few days :S

Oh my God!! 15 whole screws? That's like, what, a whole days work? 2 days? Maybe you should just buy a Dell, and then you won't have to worry about all that work.....

why dont u take that stick out of ur ass i asked a question u dont like it then back off this is a real question and i dont need someone flaming me for it so unless ur gonna say something intelligent just piss off and i could have taken the PSU out at the time i probably would have but anyway onto the point ill disect my case later and check and post the resurts later sorry for the lack of info i just figuired some might save me the time just please dont flame me. peace

Your 230v AC operating requirement has no bearing with regards to it's lower stepped-down DC output. You'll just have to find the tag

Or find the rating somewhere on the transformer itself

Not exactly the way to start your stay at AT, but anyways, all you should need to do is take off the side panel on your case and the label for the PSU should be right there. At the most it's six screws (2 on the side, 4 on the PSU)

i think that guy is saying the same thing, but that 230v/120v switch is not what to look at. another vote for checking the label here.

Well, Krynis, take it as you want. Sheriff and MonkeyDriveExpress asked you for a simple bit of information, as it appears that they were willing and ready to help you out. But rather than take the 2 minutes involved to remove the cover and obtain the necessary info, you spend the same amount of time posting back here whining about it.

From the time that I've been here, I've seen a lot of very knowledgeable people freely share their experience and provide great help to those requesting it. But like me, those same people can get a bit irritated when someone won't bother to do even a piddling amount of homework on their own. So do what you like, just don't expect people to come rushing to your aid with an attitude like you're expressing right now.

ok i admit i should not have said that about the stick and ur ass etc but what pissed me off is i told them i would look i just wasint home at the time nor am i now i might pickup my computer later today so i can reinstall my video card but the point is when sheriff and monkeydriveexpress responded i responded aswell and i did say that i would look myself but that there was like 15 screws in the way i was trying to say that i had asked here just to be sure before i went and opened it when i got home a few days later (i leave home for 3 to 5 days at a time) and i had the full intent of checking the PSU label when i could and ment no disrespect to them but i just dont understand why u came and felt u needed to be sarcastic and insult me i was offended now onto the point im gonna say sorry for what i said and hope we can put it behind us cuz i like this site and these forums seem packed full of good people and i dont want to have problems

anyway my friend explained that i dont need to take off the roof on my case i just remove the PSU it self with 2 screws on the back :S i am just worried that im wrecking these cards i have sent back and that im going to ruin my new one

anyway for now im gonna assume its a 350watt i know some one already said so but i wanna make sure is it safe for me to run the PC in my sig with only a 350watt that probably low quility being that i got it from pal-tec with my case :S

oops did it again.... anyway it is a 350 watt (410watt max) and i do need more but it should be fine for now one of my friends who is a computer tech helped me out
