power usage through the roof when overclocking gtx470

1.087v is not needed for a modest OC. That extra voltage produces more heat and uses more power than necessary. I use 630 watts with 470 SLI. I could hit 800 watts if I force enough voltage through it but why?
yeah I know its not needed for a modest oc but I was just curious as to what the results would be. you would have to be a masochist to permanently run higher voltage and a really high oc on the gtx470 because that would require 100% fan speed during games. even at around 80-85% I could not stand it.

I have GTX470 SLI and stock voltages are not the same: one with 0.937V, another with 0.987V. With reduced clocks voltages are the same: 0.875V for 50 MHZ core and 0.887V for 400MHZ core clock.
