Power UPS and speakers

I just noticed that most of the UPSs has full-time noise filtering. Will that get rid off the speaker humming noise when nothing is playing in the speakers? I'm using a cheap powerstrip right now for my system, and seeing what happened to my friend's computer during last blackout, I'm getting myself one asap.

I have a Dell Dimension, 20" monitor, HK speakers, and a printer. I'm looking at the APC Back-Up Office 280 and the Tripp Lite Internet Office 280. One has RJ11 and one has RJ45. Are those really neccessary? Help me pick one out. Thanks.

the RJ45 would be nice if you want to use DSL or cable because then it would protect from those, too.
the UPS might remove the humming, if it's really an electrical problem. more likely you just have a noisey sound card or the built in amp is crappy... also, on some sound cards, if you crank up the bass, it will make the hum worse, like when you crank up the treble and you hear more hiss.

ok.. back to original equation.. are those 280s I mentioned earlier enough for me?

There is no way in hell that a 280 will power a computer and 20" monitor! I have the APC Back-UPS Office 280 and it powered my system and 17" monitor for 90 seconds. By the way my system+monitor require about 325VA according to my Back-UPS Pro 650. I would recommend at least an APC 450VA.

Hiss could be from lousy speakers you know. That or a bad soundcard..
