Power to SATA HDD and DVD drive (currently building)

I have a SATA hard disk and a SATA DVD drive. My PSU has two cables to power SATA devices, but each cable has multiple plugs on it. Should I use the same cable for both devices or two separate cables?

Also, my mobo only came w/ one SATA data cable w/ an L shape at the end. I used it on my hard disk. The other SATA data cable just had two straight plugs. Do I need to orient this cable a certain way for my DVD drive?

SATA power connectors only fit one way, and go on pretty easy, so if it isn't working, flip it around and try again. If both connectors on one cable will reach, then use them, otherwise use one from each cable. Doesn't matter, but I always try and use the minimum amount of cables
