power switch power cables

i'm currently building a computer, and the power switch (on the case) has broken, my dad says i can just connect two cables together. but we do not know which one to pair with the other. If anyone has some insight, please post!

Are you sure that the power switch wires are hooked to the right place on the MB, and of the right polarity?
You probably already checked this, I'm just asking to be sure.

By the way, what MB and case do you have?

It has a SiS 620 (northbridge?) chip, but, it's socket 370 w/ an AGP-ish 2nd CPU slot but that's about all i know about it. the case is some off-brand called Alien Tech. call me a n00b, but how would i check the polarity? and , the cables dont go to the motherboard or at least i don't think they do. they just go straight from the power supply to the switch (http://www.merchant.com.hk/cgi-bin/uplo...tch/Push%20switch/KDC-A04/KDC_A04T.jpg if you're not sure what i'm talking about)
