I am building a new computer, and I just went to test with the motherboard, ram, and video, plugged it in and...nothing. I have a powersupply with an independent on off switch, this might sound stupid but if the PS fan does not come on it is the problem, right? Or does it need a signal from the MB? Please help.

No, the fan on PS shouldn?t start. My first guess would be u have switches from your case to your MB on the wrong jumpers. The system cant turn itself on until the MB tells it to.

You also need to have a hard drive or floppy hooked up.

No...

all u "need" is MB,CPU,Video, and RAM. The machine will boot fine without a HD and floopy. U just wount get very far ;)

I posted a question a few minutes ago regarding something like this, didnt see this topic so I'll just throw in a quick question. When you tried firing up your computer, did your power led come on? I tried firing mine up with a lot less installed than you, I got the hard drive light to come on and stay on (no hard drive installed), but no Power LED? I take it this is normal since the fans didnt spin at all either.

Hmmm..... so did the systme POST? If the HD led comes on the power led should be on too. The fans not spinng leads me to think that somthing might not be setup right. Or maybe the power led was backwards? Current can only pass through a led in one dirrection.

Okay, got some of it figured out. HD LED was in the wrong spot, thats why it was always on...but thats a good spot to test LED's to make sure they work at least. Power switch I had backwards I think, the system now turns on...fans blow and all (I really like the sound of those twin sunon ultra speed 80mm's...just wait till the sk6 with the delta screamer gets put in). The only problem I'm really have is the power LED...no matter where I put it, can't get it to turn on when I flip the switch. I then tested it in the always on spot, it did turn on so I know the LED and my solder job is good. I sent a letter out to gigabyte to ask them where its spose to go, its a GA-7DX Revision 4 board. I always have trouble hooking up the front panel the right way!

Thanks
