Power Supply?

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this but i'll try.

I have a list of specs below and can you tell me what power supply you'd recommend for the amount of peripherals I have...

P4 2.53 Ghz
1GB Kingston RAM
Gigabyte SINXP-1394 Mobo
ATI Radeon 9700 Video Card (Powercolor)
Toshiba DVD-ROM
Toshiba DVD-R/RW
Sony CD-R/RW
WD 80 GB HDD (OS/storage/etc..)
WD 80 GB HDD+WD 80 GB HDD (RAID_0)

What power supply and what wattage should I use for all of this?

I have an Antec True Power 430W PS but im not sure if its too little or too much. I noticed that on the Antec that I have it has "FAN ONLY" power conncters, when I connect it to my case fans I can hardly feel the air blowing; is this because the "FAN ONLY" connectors are a lower voltage? I would assume so because once I connect them to a normal power connection they flow stronger. My PS also has a second fan on top, but I dont have a hole in the case for it, would it hurt the power supply?

any advice would help

Thanks,
Rob

This is probably the best forum for this. First off, you cannot have too large of a PSU. The PSU only puts out the amount of power that it has to. If your components only demand 200W of power, than your PSU will only put out 200W. On the same note, if your components asked for 500W, your 430PSU would have a hard time doing it.

The Truepower 430 is probably a good choice of PSU for your system. While a generic 450W PSU might not provide enough power because it may be overrated, the Truepower will provide its full power. The Truepower 430 is plenty for your system and you will still have some overhead for future upgrades.

If you have the fan hole aimed at the top of your case then you have the PSU upside down. Flip it over, the fan should intake air from just above the heatsink on your processor.

The fan only connectors vary the voltage that is going to the fans. It is the same voltage that is being supplied to the fans inside the PSU. As your system gets hotter, the fans will speed up. Your system will have to get pretty hot though to make them go to full speed.

BTW...Nice System.

Sometimes you need to drill a couple of holes to invert the psu. definitely worth the trouble, unless there's at least an inch of clearance above the psu...

Very good psu, more than strong enough. A good 300-350w model would work just fine.

Strange but true, at least one Forum member said he was advised by a Gigabyte tech to replace his Antec TP430 with an Enermax PSU (to cure issues with his DP VRM). The best explaination I can think of for this is that the Enermax units have extra-high 12V amperage capability, and the dual-power Gigabytes evidently need a lot of 12V to power that second set of VRM's.
