picked up a 280gtx last week and everything was running fine until i loaded crysis and played it for about 15 minutes, one minute i was playing then my entire computer shut down and i had to manually restart it.. i have played AoC, EQ2,COD4 and my other daily pc use with no heat issues or shutdowns, it appears it only happens in crysis.

i have a silverstone ST60F power supply, I upgraded to a 280 from a 8800gtx (never had any shutdowns), i am running a Q6600 @ 3.4ghz should 600w be enough juice for this setup? heres some specs on the PSU:

Technical Specifications:
Max DC Output: 600W
Combined +3.3V, +5V: 170W
Combined +12V: 42A/504W
Input Voltage: 90V ~ 264V (Auto Range)
Input Frequency Range: 47Hz ~ 63Hz
PFC: Active PFC (PF>0.95 at full load)
Efficiency: 75.80%

i'm looking at going with a corsair 750w or 1000w psu if i need to upgrade, what do ya think?

The Issue that you are having is probably related to heat generated by the GPU, and Causing your VRAM to Error... the Fan speed on those cards is probably too low....

Try getting RIVA Tuner, and Manually adjusting GPU Fan to 65% or higher

You should be able to look at your GPU Temp also.

If you cant get it to come down, I have heard that some of those cards have issues with the Cooler getting good contact on the GPU and VRAM...

i installed the eVGA OC utility and found out the GPU fan was only running @ 40% so I turned it up to 100% and played crysis for about 30 minutes with no issues, hopefully that solved my problem.

i am pretty sure the 600w psu is enough, but how many hard drives/optical drives do you have?
