Power Supply too hot???

I'm sure it's normal but the top of my case gets hot enough for me to notice when I'm sitting at my desk. Also, the heat seems to heat up my burner a little too much. Should I be concerned?

I'd say yes. There isn't a hole under or beside the PSU is there, such that it would be able to suck in its hot air again?

um, both fans on the psu are working properly. Only thing I can think of is that the air is being sucked in from the cpu fan...maybe that's it? Or could it be that the hot air is being sucked back in because of the area the PC is located in? It immediately cools down if I turn on the AC. Not sure how to fix this.

Assuming the fan on the side is blowing in? Another thing you could try, since you have two fans in the PS, I bet if you put your hand by the slots on the side facing the front of the case, you can feel air blowing out of the PS back into the case. Maybe tape those up? But I can't see how that would make a drastic difference.

Can you load up MBM and see what your case temps are? Maybe you don't have enough fresh air coming in.

CPU temps vary from 40-49. Mobo temps never above 30. Using Asus Probe to check temps.

Could maybe a new case fix some of my circulation issues?? Could a aluminum case help drop the temps?

Is 49 the max at load? That's right about where I am, ~42C idle, 49C load. Your mobo temps are low which would tell me you have good circulation. You have one more exhaust fan than I have, hmmmm. We need some more ppl to jump in here.

OK, so how hot is hot? How about if you touch the actual PS?

Well, it doesn't get to the point that I can't touch it but it's not like I can keep my hand on there either . I'm more concerned about what kinda of effects it might have on the other components in my pc, especially my burner since it's right next to the psu. Should I get some type of temp probe so I can see how hot it really is in that area?

edit: yeah, full load usually is around 49

If you could then you'd know. What about the slots I was talking about? The PS could, and probably is, blowing hot air right on your burner.

Could it be that whatever heat is being pumped out of the case is being sucked back in? I just got home and the area under my desk was really warm. I guess leaving the window closed in my room didn't help either. Other than that, I'm not sure how to allieviate this problem. I'm thinking the warm air that is coming out of the powersupply is sticking around and it's being sucked right back in by the other fans.

As for those slots, I'm not exactly sure which ones you are referring to. In the back area of the case? Only open slots are the ones for the fans.

Could a aluminum case help things get a little cooler? I currently have a Antec 1080B.

Do you have your system in a desk cubby hole, or out in the open? Do you have any intake fans on the back? If no to these two things, I don't see how the warm air can be getting sucked back in, unless your ambient room temp. is high. But then again your mobo temps are low... Maybe you have poor airflow in your case around the PSU??

I'm talking about the slots on the power supply. They are on the side opposite of the exhaust fan, should be facing your burner.

Nah, its out in the open with about a 1ft of space behind it. I'd say the room temp is usually around 75-80 without a ac but it's just a guess.

The back two fans are blowing out of the case. Not sure how to solve any circulation issues. I don't think the case is too cluttered that it would impede circulation. I'll have to borrow a digital camera for a day to take some pics of the area and pc.

Would it be a good idea to block those slots?

You could try that. I just taped mine up earlier today but it seems like my load temps stayed the same. I'm going to run it this way for awhile, then pull the tape and see if any difference.
