Power Supply Sparkes.

Today when I replaced my CDROM drive (only), I put everything back and powered up my PC. However when I turn on, sparkes came immediately from the PSU's fan! WTF??? My PSU is just a generic 300W ATX, does anyone know the reasons for the sparkes? Do you think it fried other components of my PC?

Thanks.

It could be that you left one of the power connectors loose, or it could be that your new CD-ROM is sooo powerful that you blew the power supply. 😉 Your parts should be fine, but you'll find out for sure when you replace the power supply. Hope this helps.

holy.... might be because it's a generic power supply ... i would recommenend finding a better powersupply.. i wouldn't trust anything that sparked on youre expensive invenstment!!!! know what i mean?

Oh man, just scared the hell outta me...will be getting a better PSU tomorrow, bless me people.

I think that I might have a lose power connection between the power cord and the PSU itself...

I have seen the fuse blow in a couple of power supplies. Most of the time simply replacing the fuse will make it work just fine again. I have never seen any components be damaged from this although it's not impossible.

Luckily, I put in a new Enermax PSU and everything works again! I opened up the fried PSU and the fuse inside was blown...
