These are the parts that I'm planning to use for my new set of PC. I need help with the PSU.
Asus Striker II Formula
Core 2 Duo E8400
Asus EN8800GT 512MB DDR3
Kingston HyperX PC6400 2GB
500GB Western Digital SATA II
LG DVD-RW
Samsung SyncMaster 932B+
Altech Lansing VS4121
Raidmax Sagitta Casing
2-4 12cm Fans

How much should my PSU be? I'm planning to use Enermax 500W. Is it sufficient? I may overclock it in the future. Another option is the Coolermaster eXtreme Power Duo 650W. Which one is more advisable? Why? Thanks a lot for your help.
 
What else can you choose from ? What's your budget ? Do you allready have that enermax ? A qaulity 500w PSU will be good enough.
 
All the options I have are Coolermaster eXtreme Power Duo 650W, Enermax Tomahawk(not in website)500W, Raidmax Modular RX 630A and Gigabyte Odin Pro 500W. My budget is around RM300-RM350 or $80-110. So gigabyte would be my last resolve if all the others won't work. I hope to get Coolermaster eXtreme since I may add another gpu next time. So?
 
Allright, here's the deal on the coolermaster Extreme power 650w unit. I've got one myself, and so far it's been running my rig just fine, and I'd say it's about as demanding as your rig will be. For a 650w unit it's UNDERPOWERED on the 12v rails though, and I do NOT suggest running dual 8800gt's on it. In fact, if you had more choices, I would recommend a different PSU alltogether. I also replaced the fan in my PSU, because it was way to loud for my liking.

Perhaps the Gigabyte Odin Pro would be a better choice. The coolermaster should be fine, because it's at least a 'decent' unit, but don't expect it to run dual 8800gt's with a qaud in there as well, especially not when overclocking.
 
I'm lacking of budget right now. So, the most critical thing I need to know is whether Coolermaster eXtreme support PCI Express 2.0? I mean, I heard people saying that PCI Express 2.0 need a 8 pin connector? Is this a must?
 
As far as the 8 pin power connector, I think that your referring to the 8 pin CPU connector. I don't think that it is for the PCI-e 2.0, because I have a 8 pin CPU connector on my MSI p965 platinum mobo (which doesn't support PCI-e 2.0). Now I'm pretty sure all of the 8800gt GPU's have a 6 pin PCI-e power connector needed to run them, but I'm not sure about any 8 pin connector for the mobo, except for the one I mentioned earlier. Now I do know some GPU's require a 8 pin PCI-e power connector, like the 3870x2 needs 1 8 pin PCI-e and 1 6 pin PCI-e power connectors. I'm not sure if that is what your referring to or not. Yes, but the Gigabyte would certainly be prefereable. I find it kind of odd though that you have the choice of a Gigabyte, but not something like an Antec or Corsair or Silverstone.

It's not odd. Gigabyte's distibution is world wide. Antec, Corsairs and Silverstones aren't. If the OP is in Malaysia, for example, he would certainly be limited to only a handful of brands.
