Alright, I'm about to do some upgrading to my computer. First off, I have a 3200+ AMD, a 250GB Maxtor HDD, *coming soon* a BFG OC GeForce 7800 GTX, *getting rid of* a 430w Seasonic Powersupply, *coming soon* a KOYO 9-in-1 card reader/USB 2.0, and an NEC CD/DVD Burner with *coming soon* a second CD/DVD Burner. I'm hoping that you guys can give some tips on what would be the best power supply for my system, as 430w doesn't sound like enough for what I'm getting. I have $60-$80 to spare on a Power supply. Anyone have any recommendations on what I should purchase? Thanks! Anymore info on my rig can be found in my signature.

I believe the Enermax Noisetaker 480W psu is selling for $82 at newegg. That would be a hell of a choice

Either that, or spare $10 more and get the 480W ePower Tagan, thats a good choice also

I like the Antec Neo480 for about 100. If you're planning to go SLI, get an OCZ powerstream 600 to take you into the future...

I will be OCing, because I'm also going to up my 3200+ AMD to something heftier, as well. Is a 480w really a good choice? I'm gonna be upgrading my baby with some extras.

Edit: Does anyone know where to also get a GeForce 7800 GTX for a good price? I have $520 to buy one, so I want the best I can find for it.

If you're in the Uk I'd recommend Tagan 530W unit

- Exceptional build quality (gold connectors, braided cables, grounded wire on case - all for extra stability, black iodized heatsink inside for improved heat transfer etc - just check any review of it to check the quality)
- Single rail
- 32A +12V
- 48A +5V
- 3 year warranty
- second fan is not placed at the bottom of the unit so goes in the P180 perfectly and other such cases.

(The 480W unit is exactly the same except only 30A on +12V)

That said if you're not in the UK you'll have more choice (eg Seasonic and Fortron/Sparkle) so look to Seasonic and possibly Enermax, Fortron although some people have negative stuff to say about dual-rail PSUs.

Say is your Seasonic really so bad? Check the amps on your rails - I suspect it's mroe than enough for what you want including overclocking the CPU.

Your Seasonic 430W PSU is really just fine. You have nowhere near 400W worth of stuff in what you've listed (unless you intend on doing really, really extreme overclocking, and even then you would probably be fine).

Unless you plan on upgrading to SLI videocards at some point -- but even then, you could just buy a bigger PSU when you're ready to make that move.

For the record, the watt meter that came with my PSU reads a steady 100W on the rig in my sig under load.

Alright, I'll take your advice, I did run an X850 XT on my computer and it ran great. Anyone know where to buy a GeForce 7800 GTX for a solid price? I have $520 to spend on it.

www.monarchcomputer.com has it for $500 shipped, and it comes with a free copy of battlefield 2

www.newegg.com has them for around $470-500 retail, and there a really good company.
