power supply question

this power supply (power computing 300w) says the max output is 10A on the +12, and 1A on the -12. If I put a device from +12 to -12, can I draw 1A, 10A, or 11A? (I'm hoping 11!)

thanks.

10A @ 12V

Sounds like a generic power supply you have there. Pay $40 and get a Sparkle or $65 for a Enermax. You can't go wrong.

it was free. i pulled from an ex-server (I think, based on the mobo that was in there).

edit: my main power supply might cut it, but i'd rather not risk it, even though it is lower wattage overall

I wouldn't worry too much about the 12V source. They are generally used to turn fans and motors (HD). You will most likey run into a wall on 3.3v+5v combined power. If they deliver adequate power for your need then there is nothing to worry about 🙂 Ofcourse I don't know if you have like 12 fans running in your system..maybe then you are concerned with the total power output on the 12v rail 🙂 ...Just a note..what device use -12Vcc? Opamps?
