Power supply question?

but 12v Rail has 15 Amps!
 
A Q6600 is power hungry and an Over Clocker. If you don't intend to OC either the CPU and GPU, I would say a 400W PSU is the bare minimum and consider a DESCENT 550W PSU such as Corsair or XFX for example, if you want stability.

What MB are you using?

I'm running a 9800gt Zotac OC edition and 4600+ amd x2 on this dynex 400 watt and is probably why I'm getting stuttering in games and unigine.. nice case though cougar strike gaming case.. And am going to drop the q6600 and Asus radeon 6870CU into it.
With the Enermax! I just emailed to see if they still have the Enermax waiting for a reply!

Appears to be a cheap HP OEM Tomato MB which doesn't offer OC'g options, to me - That $30 525 watt Ether Max PSU should be fine and give you stability with a None OC'd Q6600.

Very Cheap RIG but should handle Win7 64-Bit with say a minimum of 4 to 8 GB's of DDR2.

Suggest you stick with Win7 32-Bit OS and limit yourself to 4 GB's of DDR2.

Yeah these are the parts I have at the moment,
Cougar strike gaming case
4 Gb Hyundai (PC2-5300 667)
Q6600
Asus radeon 6870CU
And go with the 525 Watt Enermax..... So i'll see how this system turns out for now for gaming.. Probably not shooting for high or ultra setting for games, mind you I have seen some games on ultra setting with that video card on a 4 gig system.. And I believe Q6600 is not a bad processor at all considering the age... Still a little bit of some umfff hey 😉
 
Z15CAM I was wondering about 32 bit or 64 bit windows 7, and then you suggested I go with win7 32 bit.. Guess I could do that yep!
 
The Intel G33 wasn't any better then the old SIS chip set - Not that they were not good for general purpose in it's time, but they were a Tomato MB.

To you when you design a build of your own.

I do though i love what i have now, and putting it all together and and seeing how an older rig performs is awesome to me.. And this will be my first time putting together an intel system and the last time i used a radeon card was back in 1999 with the catalyst control center. 99% of my other systems were amd and NVidia. And i downloaded crimson edition control centre yesterday and am totally new to this new control center. so I'm really excited about using this new software and hardware for the first time.. So this newer card Asus radeon 6870CU
I'm dying to see how it performs...
 
I running a 3 year old ASUS P8Z68Pro Gen 3 MB with an Intel i7 2700K clocked at a minimal 4.8Ghz's 24/7 topping 5.2 Ghz and stable with 16 GB of Samsung MV-3V4G3D-US_DDR3 running at 1867 Mhz 9-9-9 24/1T at 1.34mv with CF 290X's that will do 1200/1500 Mhz @ +1.34mv - I'm NOT interested in upgrading at this time as the Price Vs Performance doesn't match today.

Of course I'm under water with temps that never exceed 70C under full load.

I fear the DeskTop Enthusiasts has little time left considering the Power of Mobil Devices have today.

I was working on my computer the other day right after a fresh install of 7, and i was optimizing drivers and everything i do after a fresh install, making sure everything is running optimally, and running coretemp and cpu-z and checking my idle percentages on the processor and it was up between 50% and 60% load. So I'm going hmmmm what is making my processor work. Turns out it was a font cache from a windows kb update.. So i check to see if i really need this on my system and no i do not.. So i check the update KB and read about it. Took the update off and running at 0% idle like it should be.. Go figure an update that was pretty much useless is eating up half processor power...
 
Core or Real Temp are not bad App's but I prefer HWMPro but be aware it has a glitch when mounting USB Thumbs - Keep a ZIP.EXE on hand to over- write the "hwmprow.ini" file and disconnect all USB Sticks when Rebooting or your Temp CPU and GPU Icons will not show up in SYSTray.

I do not trust software FAN Spd App's with either a EFI or UEFI MB Bios and would sooner use the MB Bios to control Fan Spd's. Something of which your MB is not capable of doing.

Getting back on Topic. I started with a XFX BEFX 850W PSU but when I OC's my i7 Sandy Bridge platform for continuous CPU 4.8/5.2 Ghz and prolonged 1130-1200/1500 Mhz CF 290X's - all under water, I changed the 850W PSU out for a XFX 1050W BEFX PSU to ensure stability - I'm running 1 280x30x140 and 1 280x60x140 rads with 8 140 Fans, 3 water pumps in a Fractal Design Midi R2 Case and use a lowly QNIX 2560x1440p Led display between 60 to 120 Hz. - Go figure.

An old Power hungry Platform by to days standard but not worth upgrading considering Performance Vs Price of components offered today.

Over the years I've had many Platforms but I learned that's it's imperative not to skimp on the PSU.

Yeah I know my PSU needs upgrading for sure, so I'm going to throw in some extra money for this piece... I am feeling the strains on myself running a dynex and not to happy with that! So yeah waiting in anticipation! 😀
 
Ok, so I built my "Computer" ran 'Prime95" and "Furmark" for Twenty minutes to find out if I have a faulty component, nothing happening there, cause I read on forums "it's likely to be your "power supply" cause in games my computer will reset almost like pressing the reset button for no apparent reason! I don't have a power bar! plugged right into the wall.. hmmm, "shake me head" oh and when running furmark and prime95 "at the same time" temperatures are for cpu 69c and gpu 89c which I know not are overheating. hmph! don't know..
