Power supply question...

Whats the real difference between the two? I've been looking into getting a new ps. I have an Antec case with a 350W Smartpower in it. Seems to work fine. But about 3-4 times in the past week, my system has just up and shut down on me. Not like a power failure shut down, I mean it went through the normal shutdown process as if I shut it down myself. To be honest, I don't know if that is a power supply issue or a Windows problem. Newegg has the TruePower II 430 for $69.99 and the SmartPower 450 for $66.99. Recommendations?

I don't know the exact techincal specs, but generally the TP's are a better made PSU with more amps per rail. The Smartpower line is Antec's budget line (but still a decent PSU).
For those prices, I would definitely go with the TP II.

Next time is shuts down on it's own, reboot, and then look at the system event viewer and see if there was an error just prior to it shutting down on it's own.

I know this is an old post.
Anyway, I had the exact same problem with a 350 W Smartpower. from me.

I'm using a TPII 550w and it is rock solid. For $85 it's a great psu. Had a 430 true power before this one ...bought it 4 years ago, still going strong in my other comp.

Currently using the SM 350W that came with my case. It's running fine, I love how only one fan runs at most tiimes. But I checked the specs and the 12v dual rails are a bit concerning: 24A combined, more to the cpu. Truepower is better spec wise. I think I recall problems with some of them though.
