Power Supply question

Just got a new case and PS. Trying to see what one of the fans looked like when powered but the power suppy doesn't come on. never tried to just run a PS without it being hooked up to the M/B. My question is ..does the PS need to be hooked up to the M/B to run or should I be able to just plug it in and turn on the power switch?

Thanks

You'll have to have it hooked up or you can jump the 4th and 6th ports (Top Row) on the motherboard connector while having it hooked up to the power in order to make it work.

Be careful running a Power supply with no load, it is possible to damage them. They need a load for the regulator circuits to operate properly.

Use a short piece of wire (or paper-clip) to short the green wire (there's only one) to any of the black wires (they are all ground and are connected together inside the PSU...

I have never had a problem running a PSU with no load attached...YMMV
