Just got my MSI 9800PRO last week, can anyone tell me what is the difference bewtween the supplied 4pin power cable connector and those 4pin connector from the power supply( like those used by FDD).

Can I plugged in the FDD 4pin cable from the power supply to my VGA card, which one gives better power? Anyone here tried the 4pin cable from the FDD?

There should be no distinctions between the 4-pin power connectors used by the video card or the floppy drive, unless marked otherwise. you're pretty safe to use either one, i am sure...
Hope that helps.

thanks hoboslayer,

the problem is the package stated "please use the supplied cable to connect to vga card", wanted to try the FDD 4pin as I suspect the supplied cable caused artifact when playing doom3.

those MSI 9800PRO user who tried, please shared.

the power cable probably isn't the problem if you see artifacts with D3 and not other games..more likely drivers, visual settings..if the power cable really was faulty, you'd probably see more than artifacts. I dunno though, i am certainly no expert. :p

Plug the floppy connector in. Mine also artifacted a lot until I did that. The supplied connector it seems does not have the 5V line connected.

I was also struggling with mine. I was seekking help on MSI's forum and someone there told me to use the floppy connector. MSI apparently also reccomends it.

Yeah I had the MSi for a little while.
Use the connector from the power supply.

just plug in the fdd cable last night, got worst, now the bootup screen which shows the ram test got some green lines, at the windows bootup screen, it is having dotted vertical lines. When windows is fully up and running, the whole screen filled with patches like having serious artifact.
