Mobo: NF-7s rev2
CPU: Athlon 2800+ oc'd 2.1ghz
p/s Antec TruePower 2.0 480w
So a buddy of mines p/s died (raidmax crap) and I sold him my aging antec true power. Decided might as well b time to upgrade, you know? Went to micro Center and bought myself a new antec case with a True Power 2.0 480 watt p/s in it. Came home, did the transplant, and bang. windows starts to boot, but before the UI comes up, the whole comp shuts down. Disconected every fan, every drive, all that was left was the mobo, vid card, and the os hard drive. still no dice. Went into the bios and found that I have a ZERO on the -5v line. Figuring the p/s was shot, I sent antec an e-mail and got this response:
That motherboard requires a -5v All of our version 2.0 ATX power supplies do not have a -5v.If you look at the main connector you will notice that one pin is missing that would normaly be a white wire that connects in to that blank that would normal be the -5v. I would advise using a version 1.3 ATX power supply with your motherboard or upgrade the motherboard.
WTF? when did this happen. I figure if this is what antec says it should be true, but I don't rememeber any of this being brough to may attention, and I have certainly been up to date. Or so I thought. SO basically, what should I do? Is it truly the time to upgrade to a dual core opty =)
