Power Supply, is 300W enough?

I have been stuck in PC gaming limbo with my Pentium 200, non-MMX screamer. I've finally decided enough is enough when I cannot even play Quicktime movies or games that are released as a downloadable demo file . . . its a waste of my DSL connection.

So, here is what I have come up with to tide me over until DDR becomes more established:

Thunderbird Athlon 1.1Ghz
PAL6035 Combo 28.3CFM
k7T Pro 2-A
Blue Orb 15CFM 4600RPM Fan
256MB MUSHKIN w/SIEMENS Infineon PC133
Deskstar 75GXP 15GB
Caviar WD400BB ATA/100
AOpen DVD-1640 Pro
1.44MB Floppy Drive
3D Prophet II GTS PRO 64MB DDR
SoundBlaster Live! DE 5.1
Tornado 1000 w/300w PS
WindowsMe
Perfection 1240U PHOTO Scanner
Natural Keyboard Elite
Mouseman Wheel Optical

My question is: will 300watts be enough to power this system? Will this system break the 10,000 mark on 3DMARK2000? I've heard stories that the VIA chipset has some kind of AGP/gaming performance problem that can be fixed depending onthe 4in1 drivers, could some one please elaborate on this?

Thanks,

300Watt will be fine as long as it's AMD certified (the ones that come with the Tornado cases are).

Might I suggest Win98SE over WinME? WinME has a lot of really crappy "features" and crashes alot more...

I don't think it will break 10000 on 3Dmark...but why do you care? It's not like you play 3dmark...It will scream in games, multimedia, DVD, mp3s, and anything else you can throw at it. As far as I know only Fklosters 1.8Ghz P4 with 10,000rpm SCSI drives has broken 10k 3Dmarks...(I'm sure that's not the only system ever, but it's the only one I know of off hand)

Random curiosity, why the Deskstar 75GXP 15GB and Caviar WD400BB ATA/100? Why not just grab a 60Gig 75GXP? probably be cheaper than the two separate drives

I originally had the Caviar as my drive, then at the last minute I decided to add another drive that would just hold the OS and drivers. I wanted the fastest drive possible for boot-up/OS operation, and nothing left to clutter it and slow it down. I choose the Cavair b\c it was cheaper than a Deskstar GXP75. Would it just be easier to make a 3GB partition for my OS/drivers, and the rest for the rest of software?
