Once again, I am building my first PC, and I am clueless on the Watts i need to power my build.

So far I have:

DVD Writer/Burner - 24x

Antec Nine Hundred Two Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

SAPPHIRE 100314SR Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

Intel Core i7-860 Lynnfield 2.8GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor BX80605I7860

I plan on adding a SSD to a Sata 6 usb 3.0 mobo.

I want to buy a Modular Power supply with hopefully 80 Certified.
Im told corsair makes amazing power supplies, so let me know what you guys think i need.

Thanks,

~Storm

24-hour promo on the Antec TP-550 $80 -20% promo code -$25 MIR = $39 +shipping

Depending on what you're doing with this computer, the i7-860 might not be worth the price premium over the i5-760. The addition of HT on the i7-8xx doesn't do anything as far as gaming is concerned.

Corsair does make amazing units but the one listed above is a smoking deal. To give you an idea, the system in my sig pulls anywhere from ~130 watts (idle) to 220 watts (max gaming load I saw) from the wall (my UPS tells me in real time what I'm actually pulling through it.) I'm guessing my Corsair is around 80% efficient at this load, which would mean the power req range is 104-176 watts. My system is very similar to yours (though mine should require slightly MORE power than yours.) As you can see, most people grossly overestimate their needs.
