Hello. I'm upgrading my system and currently have the following hardware in my possession:

Asus A8V Deluxe mb
Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester
BFG 6800GT OC
1gb dual channel 3200 ddr400

I haven't built the system yet because I had to send the bios chip to get reflashed to work with the winchester core cpu. The current psu I have is a cheapy Codegen 450 watt with the following specs:

115V/230Vac, 10/5A
50/60Hz

+3.3V --- 20A
+5V ----- 40A
+12V ---- 16A
+5VSB --- 2A
-5V ------ 0.5A
-12V ----- 0.8A

I don't know anything about power supplies. This codegen has been runnin steady for about 2 years and workin great with my A7N266-VM mb with integrated GPU and XP 2100+. I'm just worried about blowing up my nice new hardware. Should I replace this psu and if so what am I gonna need? I've already spent a lot more money than I wanted to on this system so I don't want to spend much more on a psu.. Any help and suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Codegen make some the worst PSU"s in existence. Your also going to be pushing it to the limits based on its ratings.

You should defiantly replace it, even if it did manage to power that setup it would almost certainly fail under extended use.

Bump. Get a reputable brand with at least 24 amps on the +12 volt rail.
