Power supply cable conversion

I have a Corsair TX850. It is not a modular power supply. Rather than replace my still ok PS with a modular one, I was thinking about getting either Molex or some other connectors from Frozen CPU and create some inline disconnects close to the PS so I can lose some power cables that I'm not using. Has anyone done this?
 
I agree, you can get a good amount of cash for a TX850, enough to afford a new modular PSU. If you just want to undertake a modding project for fun, that's another thing... can't help you with that, sorry.
