Power supply and beeping

Can the lack of power cause your power supply to beep or the mobo to beep? Either the mobo or the power supply is beeping repetitive long beeps. Don't know which. I tried reseating my ram sticks, rearraging them, taking out my video card and nothing seems to work. I put my ram in another computer and it worked so I'm assuming it's not the ram. Any suggestions would be great thanks.

Well the PSU doesn't have any sound connectors, check your motherboard's manual or online to find out what the sequence of beeps means.

It said that the repetitive long beeps are due to memory error but my memory works on another computer and the computer that I used to try out my memory on; I took their memory and put it in mine and it didn't work.

Hmmm, that's an interesting one then. Are you sure the slot is clean and the sticks are inserted right?

Yeah I checked to see if it's inserted properly and I checked to see if it was dirty and it looked fine. I looked up the beep codes and the closest thing that came to my description is a memory error code. I dont' know what that means or how to fix it if my ram is working in another computer. I'm thinking about getting a new motherboard even though I don't want to.

It's outside of warranty i suppose.

Well I went to the ASUS website and they said that any motherboards purchased after Nov 1. 1999 then it has a 3 year warranty. I bought in 2004 so I guess as they mentioned I have to contact the reseller (newegg) about it. I guess I'll go that route. THanks for you help.

I'd email ASUS to see if they have any advice on what to do, can't hurt.
