Power Short?

I was having problems as I was putting my system together so I took it back apart and started from square one. I got everything back in place but when I go to turn it on, the fans start to spin for a split second, and then cuts off. Afterwards, no matter what, the system isn't getting any juice unless I unplug it and plug it back in, in which case it it does the same thing mentioned above. I also tried getting it started by using a screwdriver to jump the two pins that the power conector is usually plugged in to but same thing happened. Any ideas?

The mobo may be shorting on an unused standoff. Remove the board from the case and put it on a magazine or something non-conductive. Plug in the minimum necessary components to get it to POST and fire it up. If it works, then it is shorting out in the case. If not, then the problem lies elsewhere.

Yeah, HappyPuppy's right. if the board is shorting out it could also be on an oversized screw/standoff. Try using those little red insulators on both sides of the mobo (a dab of elmers works wonders). That might fix your problem.
