Is there any way to specify which drives should power down in win2K? I have a pair of loud SCSI's and some quiet IDE drives, and I'd like to leave it running overnight in my dorm with as little noise as possible. However, I'd like the IDE drives to remain accessible as I'm hosting a small ftp server. Is there any way to simply power down a specific drive?

As far as I can tell, there isn't a way to tell W2K which drives to power down. However, you could schedule a task to run ever 15 minutes that would read some information from the IDE disk to keep it awake.

Well if your SCSI drives are the boot drives, then there is a problem. Since it has all the main information, it won't shut down the SCSI drives. It'll want to wake with the IDE if it was trying to access information. So Han's answer might not work...
