I need to replace my power supply and was hoping to purchase something that could be transfered to my Conroe system when I build it out. Is there knowledge about that the minimum power requirements will be for a system running a Conroe w/ standard power gaming equipment (ie: something like a X1900X).

Conroe will be less power hungry than the current netburst chips by a long shot, so I'd be mainly concerned with weather you plan to use a single video card or a dual card setup(xfire/SLI). I'd would probably get a good 450w PSU for single video card setup, probably 500w or higher SLI certified for dual graphics cards.

Exactly what I needed to know - thank you :)

I am sure the 450 would handle SLI. PSU's are often under rated any way, I have pushed power supply's to the max and they can handle a lot more then most people think.

I pushed a Antec True Power 330 to the point of failure, it handled a complete P4 (Overclocked) setup with 4 HDD's and all PCI slots filled with stuff. It was amazing.

It may very well be able to handle it, but it kinda helps if you have dual PCIe power connectors..
