System spec; ECS K7S5A v1.1 M/B, Maxtor 80GB HD, Maxtor 60GB HD, Athlon 2200+ XP, Samsung CDRW, generic DVD, SCSI adapter, Yamaha SCSI CDRW, TEAC SCSI CDR, TV Card, 2nd sound card, 2nd network card, radeon 7000 64mb and 528mb PC100 SDRAM. Old Gateway Maxi Tower case .

Problem; Since buying the processor i have only been able to run it at 1500+ max speed. I believe now that this is down to the memory being PC100 (didnt spot that originally!), but i also suspected that with the 4 CD drives 2HD's and full mother board that power may be an issue. I have bought a 500w Q-Tec gold PSU (to replace the generic 300w), and since then the system boots into windows XP just about draws the start bar and resets. I've reverted to the old PSU and things are running smoothly again.

Does this mean there is a problem with the PSU or something wrong with the setup?

Assuming that i will swap to DDR memory will this then let me run the processor at 2200 (at the moment the FSB? is restricted to 100 because of the memory running at 100)?

Im pretty fed up of this mother board (after only two months) can anyone suggest a better motherboard with similar costs?

any assitance greatly appreciated

thanks
