power issues

Just today my computed started acting a little weird. I was playing counter-strike and the game started freezing up for a period and then running again for a short time (~2s) before freezing again. Everything would freeze--video, sound, input devices. I exited to windows, and everything was fine (alt-tabbing worked too). After a few minutes, it started doing the same thing in windows. I noticed that the freezes coincided with the hard drive revving up, and then the freeze would stop when it started acessing data (as far as my ears can tell). I shut down the computer (which took a long time), and opened up the case. I found that a molex connector between my video card and the leds on my case was very hot and brown, and smelled burned. I tried to turn the computer back on to see what would happen, and the screen flashed a red bar saying that my VC didn't have power and the mobo beeped rapidly. I plugged the VC into another connector and the computer worked. What is the problem? The hard drive is brand new (WD 120GB 7200rpm 8MB cache), the VC is a Radeon 9800, and the PSU is an offbrand, 350w. I don't know if that specific molex connector is bad, or if there is a problem with the video card, or if there is a problem with the PSU as a whole. I was monitoring the voltages while the computer was acting up, and they were stable. I was just wondering if this is at all a commonplace problem, and what was done to rectify it.
Thanks in advance for any/all replies!

When you say "a molex connector between my video card and the leds on my case," are you trying to say LED-equipped fans? If so, maybe one or more of them has had a case of rotor lockup.

Bad connector most likely. Your description "a molex connector between my video card and the leds on my case" is not accurate. There is no connection between the vid card and front panel leds.
