I recently bought a new system to replace my kt133a/Tbird system. the new specs are in my sig. My friend andrew gave me a powmax 500w psu for my birthday to use in the system. When I plugged in the PowMax and tried to power up, I got power for roughly half a second. After checking all other connections (power connectors, board jumpers, power button connector, etc.) I tried it again, but to no avail. Having lost all hope, I switched to my generic 400w that came OEM with some case one of my friends has. Instant power gradification! Surfing the forums, I've heard that PowMax is, shall we say, unsatisfactory... Anyhow, I am certainly not going to argue either way, because I've read many arguments on many sides. What I really want to know, having some experience with fixing electronic devices, does anyone know what is electically wrong with this PSU and how can I fix it (I don't think it's covered under any sort of warranty at this point)? Also, this PSU works with about 25% of the boards I've tested it in. It does not, however, work with my NF7-S, or Andrew's SOYO Dragon Platinum KT400, but works in another friend's Dragon 400. Oh, the other thing is, I am one poor MF so I can't afford to replace the PSU after spending every available cent on the other hardware (read:x800 XT).
Any and all help is appreciated, thanks in advance.
